Two-day camp in Jharkhand to promote Gatka: Baljinder Singh Toor meets Training and Sports Department

Chandigarh, June 27 : A two-day Gatka training camp is being organized in Jharkhand on June 29 and 30, 2025 by the General Secretary of Gatka Federation of India and a prominent Gatka player, Baljinder Singh Toor. In this camp, training will be given to students from schools and colleges and a meeting will also be held with the officials of the Sports Department who have recognized the game of Gatka in the state of Jharkhand.
Baljinder Singh Toor, who has been active in the promotion of Gatka for the last several decades, said that Gatka is now gaining popularity not only as a religious but also as a sports martial art.
He said that camps are being organized continuously in various states of India to impart the methods, techniques and subtleties of Gatka to the new generation. In this camp in Jharkhand too, along with providing systematic training to the children, a strategy will also be prepared to further promote Gatka in the state of Jharkhand by holding a meeting with the senior officials of the sports department.
He further said that such camps not only improve the skills of the players but also keep the traditional culture alive. This two-day camp will prove to be another important step towards strengthening Gatka at the national level.
