Health Department Fazilka organized a function at District Hospital Fazilka on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day

Fazilka, June 6 (Harkiran Jeet Singh Ramgarhia) As per the guidelines of the Punjab Government, under the high supervision of Dr. Raj Kumar Civil Surgeon, Dr. Rohit Goyal Assistant Civil Surgeon, Dr. Kavita Singh District Family Welfare Officer, Dr. Eric and Dr. Rinku Chawla, an awareness program was organized at Civil Hospital Fazilka under the Thalassemia Awareness Campaign.
On this occasion, Dr. Rohit Goyal said that Thalassemia is a congenital disease, due to which the blood formation process in a newborn child is very low, or does not occur at all. Due to which the child needs blood transfusion after every 20 or 30 days. He said that free blood transfusion facility is available for thalassemia patients at Civil Hospital Fazilka.
Dr. Kavita Singh said that in our country, there are more than 4 crore women and men, who are completely healthy in appearance, but are minor thalassemia gene carriers and 10 to 20 thousand major thalassemia patients are born every year. This disease can be avoided through awareness.
Dr. Rinku Chawla, District Vaccination Officer, said that the youth needs to be aware about this disease. If we compare our blood reports instead of comparing horoscopes before marriage, then a terrible disease like major thalassemia can be avoided. He said that when both minor thalassemia boys and girls get married, their child can be major thalassemia. Therefore, it is very important to be alert.
Dr. Sukhmani appealed to the district residents to donate blood as much as possible.
At this time, gifts were given to Thalassemia patients by the Health Department. At this time, Vinod Khurana, Mr. Rajiv Kukreja, Dr. Ashok Kumar also shared information.
